Discovery is supported when it advertises AirPlay, but discovery does not guarantee playback compatibility. The list below is examples, not a whitelist — SoundFerry does not check model names. It asks the network which devices offer AirPlay and shows you what answers.

Direct Bluetooth streaming is not supported. SoundFerry uses AirPlay and Chromecast outputs.

Chromecast outputs are supported. Test your particular receiver and network; timing may require adjustment, especially in mixed groups.

Yes — a Pi running shairport-sync appears as an ordinary AirPlay receiver. It is a good way to give a set of old passive speakers a place in the group for the price of a Pi and a DAC hat.

That is normal AirPlay pairing. SoundFerry shows a small entry window for the four-digit PIN the receiver displays, and handles fixed-password receivers separately — those are stored in the Keychain. It only asks once per device.

SoundFerry manages playback across selected speakers. Timing depends on the devices and network; SoundFerry provides per-speaker delay adjustment. Try your speaker combination before purchasing. No fixed synchronization accuracy is guaranteed.

SoundFerry connects to compatible Sonos receivers using AirPlay. It does not replace the Sonos app or implement the proprietary Sonos protocol. Confirm AirPlay support for your exact model.

macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon, compatible AirPlay or Chromecast speakers on the same network, and administrator authentication to install the driver. The distributed PKG is for Apple Silicon.

The trial lasts seven days and requires no payment card. An internet connection is required to start it, after restarting the app, and every 12 hours during use. The server manages expiry; changing the Mac clock does not extend it. Purchased licenses are verified offline.
