The Home app will not see the WiiM. The WiiM Home app will not see the HomePod. Both speak AirPlay 2, and that is the door left open.

Why this combination in particular
Most mixed-brand setups are accidents of what was on sale. This one is usually deliberate: somebody who cares about sound bought a WiiM to give an existing amplifier a network input, and then bought HomePods for the rooms where a proper system would be absurd.
That combination has a specific consequence — the equalizer matters more here than in a house full of smart speakers. A HomePod does its own opaque correction and there is nothing you can do about it. A WiiM into passive speakers in an untreated room is exactly what a parametric EQ was invented for, and it will show every decibel you move.

Setting it up

Put the WiiM on Ethernet if you can
It is the room you care about sonically and the one most worth taking off the air. A wired WiiM is markedly more stable than the same unit on 2.4 GHz, and it frees airtime for the HomePods.

It adds a macOS output device. The restart is a Core Audio requirement, first install only.

Both are AirPlay 2 receivers, so they appear in the same flat list. Save the mix as a group.

A WiiM Amp into real bookshelf speakers will outrun a HomePod mini badly. Set the per-room levels once with something familiar playing.

Questions
Which WiiM models work?
Any WiiM that advertises AirPlay 2 — Pro, Pro Plus, Amp, Amp Pro, Ultra and Mini. SoundFerry finds them on the network automatically; there is nothing to pair and no address to type.
Does the EQ apply to the WiiM only, or to both?
To both, because both share one stream. That is the trade that keeps them in sync — see why per-speaker EQ is not possible without breaking the clock.
In practice you shape the stream for the hi-fi and use WiiM's own device-side EQ and room correction for the rest. Those run inside the WiiM after it receives audio, so the two stack.
Will the HomePod hold the WiiM back?
Not sonically — each receiver gets the same stream and does what it can with it. The only shared constraint is AirPlay itself: 44.1 kHz, 16-bit ALAC. That ceiling applies to the WiiM whether or not a HomePod is in the group.
Is AirPlay good enough for a hi-fi?
It is lossless ALAC at 44.1/16, which is CD quality and the same thing your streaming service is mostly sending anyway. It is not a path for 24/96 files — those are down-converted to reach it.
The one lossy step SoundFerry adds is the 16-bit conversion, handled with TPDF dither and second-order noise shaping: roughly 10 dB less noise below 6 kHz than a plain truncation.
Do the speakers actually stay in sync?
SoundFerry manages playback across selected speakers. Timing depends on the devices and network; SoundFerry provides per-speaker delay adjustment. Try your speaker combination before purchasing. No fixed synchronization accuracy is guaranteed.
How much delay is there?
The managed default audio path adds several seconds of delay. It is intended for listening rather than live instrument monitoring, gaming or video calls. Video playback may need delay compensation.
What does the equalizer actually do?
Group-wide EQ, dynamics and reverb process the shared audio before it reaches the speakers. The same processing applies to every selected output.
How much is it, and is it a subscription?
19 USD buys a perpetual license for version 1.x. Updates such as 1.0 to 1.1 are included. Version 2.x requires a separate purchase, with pricing not yet decided. There is no subscription. Other currencies are converted from the USD price.
What is in the free trial?
The trial lasts seven days and requires no payment card. An internet connection is required to start it, after restarting the app, and every 12 hours during use. The server manages expiry; changing the Mac clock does not extend it. Purchased licenses are verified offline.
