Choose where to adjust the sound
Spotify includes a desktop equalizer. If you only want to adjust Spotify playback, its own EQ is a useful place to start. Spotify equalizer guide.
SoundFerry is useful when you want sound controls together with multiple network outputs, or want the same controls available for audio from other Mac apps.
Set up your listening route
- Complete SoundFerry setup, including the driver installation and restart.
- Select SoundFerry in macOS Sound output settings.
- In Spotify, play on this Mac. A Spotify Connect session on another device does not pass through the Mac output.
- Choose your network speakers in SoundFerry and start streaming.
- Open the Sound tab and adjust the EQ.
Make a few small changes
Use one EQ at a time initially so you can hear what each adjustment does. Start with a neutral setting, change one frequency range, then listen again after the buffering delay.
A small reduction can help when a frequency range feels too prominent. If you boost a band, monitor the output level and reduce gain if needed. There is no single EQ curve that suits every recording and room.
Keep music and other Mac audio in one workflow
When you switch from Spotify to a podcast or browser, audio using the SoundFerry output follows the same route. Check the player output setting if an app is silent.
Network streaming introduces several seconds of delay in the standard setup. Video playback may need an audio timing adjustment in the player.

What can I adjust with the sound controls?
Use EQ to change the bass, midrange and treble, dynamics to control level changes, and reverb to add ambience. These controls process the audio sent to your selected speaker group.
How much delay is there?
Audio reaches the speakers a few seconds after it plays on your Mac. SoundFerry is designed for music listening; instrument monitoring, games and calls need a faster response. For video, check whether your player can compensate for audio delay.
What do I need?
macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon, compatible AirPlay or Google Cast speakers on the same network, and administrator authentication to install the driver. The distributed PKG is for Apple Silicon.
